Fire Door Fitting Checklist for Lever Lock Doors
There are many components involved in fitting a safe and compliant fire door. Ensuring you are using the correct fittings for your door and frame is critical to ensuring the door offers maximum protection.
The below guide shares the various fittings you will need to check for lever lock doors:

[edit] Hinges
You will need a minimum of 3 hinges (depending on door height) to securely connect the door to the door frame. This Stainless Steel Butt Hinge has two high quality ball bearing race joints and an ANSI hole pattern; ideal for internal application. These hinges are CE marked and compliant with BS EN 1935.
[edit] Intumescent Hinge pads
Hinge pads should be fitted into the door cut outs before the hinges are fitted. These pads are fire rated for 30 and 60 minutes and are unaffected by moisture, humidity or pollution. These Intumescent hinge pads are compliant with BS 476 part 22 and tested in accordance with BS EN 1634-1

Door closers fitted to fire doors must be CE marked and be tested to EN 1154 – this is a mandatory requirement under the Construction Product Regulation. All fire doors need to be fitted with a door closer when they are not FDKL (Fire Door Keep Locked), this is to keep the doors shut and stop a fire from spreading. Door closers are available in aluminium, stainless steel, polished brass or silver coloured lacquer finishes.
[edit] Mortice Lock
Should the door require locking, a Startec Mortice Sash Lock is available, and can have a square or radius forend. The lock is CE marked and is compliant with EN 12209:2003.
[edit] Intumescent Fire Protection Kit for Lock Mortice
This fire protection kit protects the lock mortice when exposed to high temperatures. It is recommended that you use the kit that provides fire resistance for your door type. The kit is available for 30 and 60 minutes.
[edit] Lever Handle
The sash lock would be operated with a lever handle to make exiting through the door as accessible as possible. Our Lever Handle set, available in polished or satin finish, is available for two thicknesses of door and is fire rated for 30 and 60 minutes. This lever handle set is compliant with BS EN 190.
[edit] Euro Profile Cylinder
The dead bolt would be operated with a euro profile cylinder. Dependent on selection, options are to have a key both sides, or a key and turn.
[edit] Fire Door Keep Shut Sign
A fire door will require two "Fire Door Keep Shut” signs , one on either side of the door, so that everyone that enters or exits the door is aware that they must shut the door behind them. These signs should be positioned above eye level to increase visibility. This signage conforms to BS 5499 pt.5:2002.
