Construction equipment
The article relates to equipment used to construct buildings. For equipment that may be installed in buildings see: Equipment installed in buildings.
A wide range of equipment may be used to construct a building.
Very broadly, the term ‘equipment’ generally refers to a set of tools used for a single purpose. This is as opposed to individual tools, which are instruments that are generally used by hand or plant which refers to pieces of heavy machinery.
At the smaller scale, there may be some overlap between what is considered to be plant, small plant, tools, small tools, light equipment or equipment.

However, Civil Engineering Procedure, 7th edition, published by the Institution of Civil Engineers defines 'contractor's equipment' much more broadly as '...things used by the contractor to construct the works, but not materials or things forming part of the permanent works'.
It gives the same definition to 'contractor's plant'.
