Green Seal

Green Seal is a non-profit environmental standard development and certification organisation in the United States. It was launched in 1989 and is one of the founding members of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).

An ecolabelling programme (the Green Seal Certification Mark) is at the heart of Green Seal, which issues certifications for products and services that meet specific performance, health and sustainability criteria. Certifications under Green Seal are available in the following areas;
- Building and construction products.
- Cleaning products and services.
- Company certification.
- Hotels and lodging.
- Household products.
- Institutional products.
- Paint and coating products.
- Paper products.
- Personal care products.
- Restaurant and food services.
Thousands of products and services have been awarded the Green Seal Certification Mark in more than 450 categories.
The organisation offers technical assistance regarding environmental purchasing, operations and facilities management practices to federal, state and local governments in the United States along with schools, businesses and other institutions. Green Seal standards are included in the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system along with other green rating programmes in the United States.
