The Building Safety Forum will be taking place at InstallerSHOW 2025 at the NEC on Tuesday the 24th June, with a packed lineup of experts from Hill Group, Skanska, Bowmer + Kirkland, Homes England, Knauf and many more taking part. The day-long session will provide crucial insights for construction professionals, helping attendees to navigate building safety legislation and best practice, regulatory changes and providing a chance to network with experts.

The day will begin with a networking breakfast for attendees, followed by opening remarks from Hannah Mansell, Technical Consultant at ADOORABILITY. A crucial update on the Building Safety Act will then be delivered by Ben Smith, Partner at the UK’s largest construction specialist law firm, Fenwick Elliott. His talk will highlight all the changes due to affect specifiers, housebuilders, developers and local authorities, and provide advice about compliance strategies and enforcement mechanisms.

Ben’s session will be followed by two panels with a coffee break between them. The BSF Champions panel, chaired by Alexander Caller of Building a Safer Future, will explore case studies that demonstrate best practice for achieving compliance with the Building Safety Act and some practical steps that can be taken to integrate new regulations into existing projects. The Gateways panel, chaired by OM Group Founder Damini Shah, will then explore how design, procurement and construction must adapt to meet new standards and how monitoring can be introduced to ensure compliance at all stages.

In addition to this, other talks will be delivered in the afternoon that will cover the role of accurate product information, the importance of quality assurance and technical support – particularly in regard to cladding – and an update on the Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG).

[edit] Networking and drinks

Afterwards, attendees will have the chance to visit the 800 stands at this year’s InstallerSHOW, before finally heading to the National Home Improvement Council Theatre for a networking drinks to round out the day.

Mike Costain, Managing Director of show organiser Lyrical Communications commented “Building Safety Week and the Building Safety Forum are a crucial pillar of this year’s InstallerSHOW. We are very excited to debut this new and much needed event, and grateful to all the knowledgeable experts who have got on board and given up their time to speak at the Forum.”

The Building Safety Forum will be held as the first event of the newly created Building Safety Week, an industry wide initiative of partners representing the whole supply chain. With a focus on education and idea sharing, this new scheme hopes to bring different parts of the construction sector together in order to raise awareness of the importance of safety in the buildings that we inhabit, and champion those who demonstrate a commitment to best practice.

Mike Costain added, “Building Safety is a real challenge for the construction industry and has the potential to plague the industry if standards aren’t raised in line with public expectations. The Building Safety Forum represents a great opportunity for professionals to network and increase their understanding of the changing rules and regulations that are shaping the modern industry’s development.”
