Modular integrated Construction MiC
The term Modular integrated Construction (MiC) developed in Hong Kong in the context of high-rise structures in high-density areas. The Buildings Department of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region describes MiC as "a construction whereby free-standing integrated modules (completed with finishes, fixtures and fittings) are manufactured in a prefabrication factory and then transported to site for installation in a building." It was felt the term better described the greater level of prefabricated and preprepared elements in the modules that the more general terms such as Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) or Modular Construction.
