International Excellence Awards 2027 Grand Jury
Contents |
[edit] Introduction
International design awards are often judged by panels that combine practising architects, designers and specialists from related fields. The jury of the International Excellence Awards (IEA) 2027, organised by Architecture & Design Community, is one example: its six members come from Brazil, the United States, Thailand and Egypt and represent architecture, interior design, furniture, product design, computational design and real estate development.
[edit] The six jurors
- Ariane Rosa (Brazil): architect, interior and furniture designer; founder and creative director of Ariane Rosa Arquitetura e Design. More than three decades of residential and commercial work, interiors and original furniture.
- Yutao Chen (USA): Computational Design Lead on the Sports team at HKS Architects and co-founder of Studio WE. Applies parametric and data-driven methods to large venues, industrial and product design.
- Inna Lysetska (USA): co-founder and senior interior designer at Lysetskyi Construction Corp / IDL Construction; more than 100 residential and commercial projects in Europe and the US since 1998; ASID Professional Practitioner.
- Professor Jenchieh Hung (Thailand): principal architect of HAS design and research (Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee), Practice Track Professor at Bangkok University, Guest Editor of the ARCASIA Journal and Exhibition Chairman of the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.
- Sameh Ibrahim Emam (Egypt): architect and product designer at MASAR Architects, where he leads international competition entries; researches gamification in product design education.
- Shagun Kalra (USA): Development Manager at The RMR Group, focused on property development, investment strategy and urban policy; pursuing a Master of Science in Real Estate Development at MIT; LEED Accredited Professional.
[edit] Why mixed panels matter
A panel that includes a real estate development specialist and a computational designer alongside architects and interior designers looks at a project from several angles: design quality, buildability, cost and long-term value. Jurors from different regions also bring knowledge of different climates, building traditions and markets.
[edit] How the IEA jury scores projects
Each juror scores every project independently on a 1–10 scale against three criteria: Innovation & Originality, Design & Aesthetic Quality, and Functionality & Spatial Integration. The final score is the average of all jurors' scores. Projects are not ranked against each other: the average score sets the level (Platinum 9.0–10.0, Gold 7.5–8.9, Silver 6.0–7.4, Bronze 4.5–5.9), and there is no limit on the number of winners in a category. Entries are judged without authors' names or logos.
[edit] IEA 2027 timeline
Registration is open until 16 March 2027, projects are submitted by 19 March 2027, and winners are announced on 6 April 2027. The awards cover 11 categories, from Architecture, Interior and Landscape to Product, Packaging, Fashion, Communication and AI-Powered Innovation.
