Luminaire
The Illustrated Guide to Electrical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 32/2014), by David Bleicher & Peter Tse, published by BSRIA in 2014, states: ‘Light fittings, or luminaires, provide a housing and electrical connections for one or more electric lamps. They usually incorporate reflectors, lenses or diffusers to direct light to where it is needed, and to control glare. Most types of lamp require a ballast or control gear, and this is generally contained within the luminaire.'
