The Illustrated Guide to Electrical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 32/2014), by David Bleicher & Peter Tse, published by BSRIA in 2014, defines batten luminaires as: ‘…low-cost fittings generally using tubular fluorescent lamps. The lamps may be bare, in which case there is no control of glare, or there may be a reflector or diffuser.’
