Recessed luminaire
The Illustrated Guide to Electrical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 32/2014), by David Bleicher & Peter Tse, published by BSRIA in 2014, defines recessed luminaires as luminaries that are: ‘…designed to sit flush with the ceiling, and are often dimensioned to fit in with suspended ceiling grids. Some types can be used as return air grilles for air conditioning systems.’
