The Illustrated Guide to Electrical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 32/2014), by David Bleicher & Peter Tse, published by BSRIA in 2014, states, up-and-down luminaires (or direct-indirect luminaires): ‘…combine direct or downlighting from the reflector with indirect or up-lighting from the same or an additional light source.’
