Mechatronics
Mechatronics essentially refers to a field of applied science and engineering which focusses on the the integration of mechanical systems with electronics and software to create and improve the functionality and efficiency of different products and their processes. The term is said to have first appeared in Japan in the late 1960s based on a combination of mechanics, electronics and computing.
Mechatronics has also been defined as the synergistic combination of precision engineering, electronic control and mechanic systems,. interfacing different disciplines including; mechanics, electronics, informatics, automation, and robotics. Such systems or components might increasingly be employed to various elements of buildings or smart buildings and the term mechatronic architectures is used to describe the conceptual models and system architecture that defines the structure and behaviour of mechatronic equipment.
