Fire integrity
Fire integrity generally refers to the ability of a building element, system, component (or a combination of these) to stop fire, flames or hot gases from physically passing from one side, the fire side to the other or safer side.
By example the Code of practice: Hardware for fire and escape doors, Issue 5, published by DHF and GAI in November 2024, defines fire integrity as a 'measure of the ability of a specified door to resist and thus contain the effects of fire for a recognised period of time. (Usually expressed in minutes - e.g. FD60 or E60 implies a door set capable of withstanding exposure to fire test for at least 60 minutes).'
