ECA given lifetime achievement award by SELECT as it moves into its 125th year
[edit] SELECT’s 125th Anniversary lifetime achievement award
ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) and its Members were honoured at SELECT’s 125th Anniversary Grand Ball, with a lifetime achievement award in recognition of the exceptional service to the electrotechnical industry. Steve Bratt, Group CEO, and Ruth Devine MBE, ECA President, accepted the award.
Steve said:
“Everyone likes a prize, especially from an elder sibling, but we’ve just won a prize from an organisation that is 125 years old and has done amazing things for the Scottish electrical contracting industry and knows us very well. So the fact they have chosen us for this award is a real honour.
“On behalf of our President, all the staff at ECA, and all of our Members, a real big thank you for such an honour and we look forward to working with you for another 125 years.”
Ruth added:
“This award is particularly meaningful because it acknowledges the long-standing collaboration between our two associations.
“Together, we have championed apprenticeships, strengthened competence, and supported businesses to deliver safe, high-quality work in a fast-changing industry. On behalf of our members, staff and volunteers, I want to thank SELECT for this exceptional recognition.”

ECA will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2026. Our Members will be at the heart of the celebrations, so look out for a series of anniversary communications, events and more coming soon.
As it has been approaching this landmark celebration of 125 years supporting and advancing the electrotechnical industry ECA has been calling on its Members to help mark the incredible milestone by sharing their insights, reflections, and vision for the future.
[edit] ECA 125 year member survey
The ECA 125-Year Member Survey has been live since August, hearing directly from the businesses and professionals who have helped shape the sector – and will continue to lead into the future.
"An opportunity to help us tell the real story of our industry — from the people who know it best."
Members have been asked to reflect on the evolution of the industry, the innovations that have driven it forward, and the changes their own businesses have had to embrace over time. Where the industry is headed over the next 25 years — and how businesses are preparing to meet new opportunities and challenges.
Selected responses may be featured in ECA’s official 125th-anniversary content, showcasing Member stories and celebrating the contributions of businesses across the UK. Businesses will have the option to give consent to be named or to contribute anonymously. All Members are encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the survey and be part of this historic moment. Join us in honouring the past — and shaping the next chapter of our industry’s future.
