Rainwater
Rain is water falling in drops that has condensed from water vapor in the atmosphere.
The term rainwater refers to water that has fallen as or been obtained from rain. Generally it is considered to be water that has not collected soluble matter from the soil and so is considered to be ‘soft’.
A Guide To Climate Change Impacts, On Scotland’s Historic Environment, published by Historic Environment Scotland in October 2019, defines rainfall as: ‘The quantity of rain falling within a specific area in a given period of time. Rainfall has a controlling influence over many other environmental hazards.’
