Project roles table
A project roles table is a planning tool that is included as part of the RIBA Plan of Work Toolbox. It takes the form of a table that sets out the roles required on a project as well as defining the stages during which those roles are required and the parties responsible for carrying out the roles. Ref https://www.ribaplanofwork.com/Help/Glossary.aspx
It is often used in association with a design responsibility matrix which sets out responsibility for each element of the design at each stage of the design development process and to what level of detail. For more information, see Design responsibility matrix.
A project roles table might also be accompanied by a contractual tree, illustrating the contractual relationship between the participants in the project. For more information, see Contractual tree.
A project roles table typically takes the form of a bar chart with the various project roles listed on the y-axis and the numbered projects stages on the x-axis. A bar extends along the x-axis to represent the stages of work that the particular role is responsible for.
Alternatively, it can take the form of a table which uses a RACI matrix. This is a form of form of responsibility assignment matrix (RAM) that can be used to help systematically manage a process or project. RACI sets out for each activity at each stage whether the various parties on the project are Responsible, Accountable, should be Consulted, or just kept Informed. For more information see: RACI matrix.
