Environmental Land Management Schemes ELMS
The Environmental Audit Committee. Environmental sustainability and housing growth: Sixth Report of Session 2024–26 HC 439 describes Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS) as "a government initiative that aims to support sustainable food production while enhancing the natural environment. These schemes include the Sustainable Farming Incentive, which pays farmers to adopt and maintain sustainable farming practices that can protect and enhance the natural environment alongside food production; Countryside Stewardship which pays for more targeted actions relating to specific locations, features and habitats; and Landscape Recovery which pays for bespoke, longer-term, larger scale projects to enhance the natural environment."
