Construction Industry Collective Voice CICV
The Construction Industry Collective Voice (CICV) was established in 2020 as the Construction Industry Coronavirus (CICV) Forum, it was rebranded in 2022, with its new name, using the same acronym. Initially primarily and online forum, which now meet also in person, is made up of leading construction trade and professional bodies. The group gathers intelligence, shares advice and speaks directly with the Scottish Government on a variety of issues that affect the construction industry.
By pooling expertise and knowledge, the CICV represents the interests of Scotland’s diverse construction supply chain with one consistent voice. CICV priorities include lobbying the Scottish Government to influence policy and to push for positive action, and to give expert focus to important sector issues including commercial, employment, planning for the future, skills, and health and safety. 11 sub-groups within the group coordinate specific functions, in line with the recovery plan developed by Scottish Government and Scottish Construction Leadership Forum, and with input from representatives from a range of other organisations:
- Consultants
- Green Home Festival
- Health and Safety
- Net Zero
- Pipeline and Commercial
- Post Brexit and Trade
- Project Bank Accounts
- Skills
- Supply Chain
- Transformation
- Workforce
CICV also has a communications group, responsible for social media, website, press, and creation of brochures, animations and other guidance. The CICV group members have also signed up to the Conflict Avoidance Pledge, a joint initiative by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Institution of Civil Engineers and other major professional bodies in the built environment. It aims to use early intervention techniques within the supply chain to try and resolve differences of opinion before they escalate into disputes.
