Conductance
Technical paper 35: Moisture measurement in the historic environment, published by Historic Environment Scotland in 2021, defines conductance as: ‘A measurement of the ability for electrical charge to flow in a material; the reciprocal of resistance.’
It defines conductivity as: 'A material property representing the degree to which it conducts electricity; the reciprocal of resistivity.'
Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines conductivity as a: ‘Measure of the ability of a solution to carry an electric current. Usually expressed in microsiemens per centimetre (μS/cm).’
The word conductivity can also refer to:
- Thermal conductivity.
- Acoustic conductivity. For more information see: Acoustic insulation.
