Twitten
The term ‘twitten’ (or sometimes twitting) originates in Sussex and is thought to be derived from ‘betwixt’ and ‘between’. It refers to a narrow path or passage bounded by walls or hedges, such as an alley between buildings or properties. In the North of England, this might be referred to as a ginnel.
