[edit] CIOB Celebrates The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
On this the last weekend in May the UK celebrates the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II to mark her 70th year as monarch.
CIOB is privileged to have a Royal Charter to promote the science and practice of building and construction for the benefit of society. Granted in 1980, this Royal Charter outlines the objectives which form the foundations of our work, our role and sets the standards to which members are committed.
The Jubilee weekend comes just a few days after the opening of Crossrail’s Elizabeth Line in London. Construction on the project began in May 2009, with a host of contractors playing a part, including Kier, Balfour Beatty and Morgan Sindall. Our magazine, Construction Management, has more information on the construction of the Elizabeth Line here, including images of The Queen’s visit to Cross-rail in advance of the new line opening.
[edit] We offer our congratulations to Her Majesty and our thanks for her decades of service.
