Offsite production
Offsite residential construction, Glossary of terms, published by Buildoffsite in 2018, suggests that offsite is: ‘…a process rather than just a collection of technological solutions. The approach requires a change from a traditional building process towards a manufacturing one. This has implications for all parties involved.’
It defines Offsite Construction (OSC), Offsite Manufacturing (OSM) and Offsite Production (OSP) as: ‘Largely interchangeable terms referring to the part of the construction process that is carried out away from the building site. This can be in a factory or sometimes in specially created temporary production facilities close to the construction site (or field factories). Common alternative spellings for offsite are off-site or off site.’
