Fuse
Collins Fix It Manual was published in 2003. It was created for HarperCollins by Jackson Day and written by Albert Jackson. In the context of electricity, the book defines the term fuse as a ‘protective device containing a wire that is designed to melt at a predetermined temperature when current exceeds a certain value.'
Fuse can also be used to describe the act of joining or connecting objects by applying extreme heat and/or pressure.
