The word 'wire' typically refers to a flexible strand or rod that is formed from drawn metal. It may be single or multi strand, although multi strand wire is more correctly referred to as wire rope. Wire is typically used for its structural load carrying capability, or to conduct electricity. It can also be used to form shapes such as meshes, fences and so on.
