Federation of Master Builders
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is a UK trade association established in 1941. Its principal aim is to protect the interests of small and medium-sized building firms.
As of 2016, the FMB is the largest construction trade association in the UK, representing more than 8,000 construction SMEs.
The FMB is a source of knowledge, professional advice and support for its members. It works in partnership with other industry bodies to provide technical advice and promote high standards. The FMB also offers advice to consumers and enables all of its members to offer warranties on their work through its insurance arm, FMB Insurance.
As well as lobbying government, the FMB also offer training courses and services, release publications, offer a range of commercial products to FMB members, and organise the annual Master Builder Awards.
Before becoming a Master Builder, members must meet strict criteria and pass the FMB's vetting process. Members of the FMB agree to comply with the requirements of the FMB Code of Practice.
