Urban Design Guidelines for Victoria, published by The State of Victoria Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in 2017, defines walkability as: ‘The extent to which the built environment supports walking for transport and for recreation, where the walking environment is safe, connected, accessible and pleasant.’
