Stratigraphy
Green infrastructure and open environments: London’s foundations: protecting the geodiversity of the capital, Supplementary Planning Guidance, published by the Mayor of London in March 2012, defines stratigraphy as: ‘The definition and description of the stratified rocks of the Earth's crust.’
Lithostratigraphy is: ‘The branch of stratigraphy concerned with the description of rock units in terms of their lithological features and spatial relationships.’

NB Durability Guaranteed - Pulhamite Rockwork - Its conservation and repair, published by Historic England in 2008, defines stratigraphy as: ‘The layers, or bedding planes, of sedimentary or metamorphic rocks.’
