Planning package
Earned Value Management Handbook, Published by the Association for Project Management in March 2013 suggests that planning packages (PPs): ‘…represent work that cannot yet be planned as work packages because of a lack of detailed information. Normally this is future work that is not scheduled to be started for at least three full months from the current date.'
Planning packages will typically have a defined scope of work, budget and scheduled start and finish dates, but lack definition such as detailed activities, logic, milestones and resources. They must be converted into work packages before they can commence.
