Gas Natural Headquarters, Barcelona

The Gas Natural Headquarters building in Barcelona, Spain, is a high-tech skyscraper which appears to morph into a variety of shapes. It was completed in 2006, and is located on the site of Spain’s first gas factory, Catalana de Gas.
Designed by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, the 20 storey structure is 86 m (282 ft) tall and consists of three separate buildings merged together. The most striking is the four-storey ‘bridge’ that cantilevers out 138 ft from the main tower, appearing to defy gravity.
The continuous façade that unifies the three merged buildings is a curtain wall that uses solar control glass with a low-emissivity top layer, to enhance the building’s sustainability credentials.
