Co-production
Engagement Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work, published by the RIBA in January 2024, states:
Co-production (collective production, sometimes collective build) is to produce together where the project team and participants work together to physically produce and build a project, feature, or component actively using creative, participatory methods.
It involves a shift from a traditional, top-down design and build model to a more collaborative and participatory approach. The Co-production process aims to ensure that proposals are designed and delivered to meet the needs and preferences and that they are encouraged to shape the proposals actively. Co-production can occur at work stages 4 to 6, requiring process, training, budget, limitations, and governance confirmation.
