Cavitation
Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines cavitation as: ‘Formation and sudden collapse of vapour bubbles in a liquid. Cavitation can occur in pumps causing erosion of the pump impeller.’
Commissioning Water Systems (BG 2/2010) by Parsloe C, published by BSRIA in September 2010, defines cavitation as: ‘The localised vaporisation of a liquid caused when the absolute pressure of the liquid falls to a value approaching its vapour pressure.’
