This development of 42 family homes was built in 2011 on a brownfield site. It is a mix of rented and owner-occupied dwellings built around a small green. The development is famous for being fronted by the television presenter and developer Kevin McCloud, whose trials and tribulations were documented in the television programme, Kevin's Grand Design: The Great British Property Scandal, which was first broadcast in 2011. |

[edit] Introduction
On 12 October 2021, the Government published information about progress on plans for the construction of new homes on underused and derelict land, the Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF).
By transforming former brownfield sites, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) intends to regenerate local areas and help potential buyers onto the property ladder.It will also help to protect the countryside and green spaces and could support up to 17,000 jobs across the housing and construction sector and the wider economy.
[edit] Distribution of funds
Almost £58 million from the £75 million Brownfield Land Release Fund has been allocated to 53 councils.
The funding is intended to support the demolition of unsightly and derelict buildings and disused car parks and garages. It also includes £5 million for self build and custom build projects and £20 million designated to help accelerate the self build and custom build sector, with councils able to bid for the remaining funding for brownfield redevelopment.
The BLRF is delivered by the One Public Estate programme, which is a collaboration between DLUHC, the Local Government Association and the Cabinet Office. The One Public Estate programme has provided a further £6 million to local councils in England for other housing and community development related services.
