Biodiversity gain plan
A biodiversity gain plan is a document that shows how a developer will achieve biodiversity net gain (BNG) according to the BNG planning regulations and law which is part of the government Environment Act. Biodiversity net gain (BNG) is mandatory from 12 February 2024.
The act aims to ensure wildlife habitats are left in a better state than before a development, and in doing so make a significant contribution to the recovery of nature across the UK. The biodiversity gain plan can be submitted to the local planning authority after the planning application has been approved, the intention is that a gain plan template will be available for phased developments.
For further information about the biodiversity gain plan template and to download a copy of the biodiversity gain plan template visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/biodiversity-gain-plan.
