Artificial general intelligence and construction
The 'CIOB Artificial Intelligence (AI) Playbook 2024', glossary of terms, published by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) describes artificial general intelligence (General AI) as 'Sometimes known as general AI, strong AI or broad AI, this often refers to a theoretical form of AI that can achieve human-level or higher performance across most cognitive tasks. In June 2021, BSRIA published the white paper, 'Artificial Intelligence in Buildings (WP 14/2021)' written by Henry Lawson. It states: ‘Strong AI, also sometimes called artificial general intelligence (AGI), relates to an intelligence that can be applied to an indefinite number of scenarios in the same sort of general way that human intelligence can be applied. Any machine capable of passing the Turing test could be described as possessing strong AI, because it would be giving apparently intelligent answers to a range of questions that it couldn’t predict.’
