Deprived local areas
Housing statistics and English Housing Survey, glossary, published by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities in 2019, defines deprived local areas as:
Lower Layer Super Output Areas (LSOAs) scored and ranked by the 2015 Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).
Seven domains of deprivation which can be experienced by people are combined to produce the overall IMD. These 7 domains relate to:
- income deprivation
- employment deprivation
- health deprivation and disability
- education skills and training deprivation
- barriers to housing and services
- crime
- living environment deprivation
