Worshipful Company of Constructors
[edit] Introduction
The Worshipful Company of Constructors (WCC) is one of the livery companies of The City of London. Also known as the Constructors’ Company, its mission is to unite qualified professionals responsible for the building crafts and skilled trades - such as carpentry, masonry, plastering and other related trades. It also supports affiliated professionals - such as lawyers and accountants - who work closely with members of the construction industry. Some are also chartered members of other professional institutions – including architects, surveyors and engineers.
[edit] History
The Worshipful Company of Constructors is the 99th Livery Company in The City of London, part of a livery tradition that originated in the Middle Ages. As a modern professional organisation, (meaning that it was established after 1948), Worshipful Company of Constructors was founded in 1976.
The organisation was recognised by The City of London Corporation in 1985, granted Livery by The Court of Aldermen in 1990 and in 2010 it was awarded a Royal Charter of Incorporation by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
One of the primary functions of The Worshipful Company of Constructors is to encourage fellowship and education and to support charitable giving.
