Sustainability aspirations
The RIBA Plan of Work 2013 defined Sustainability Aspirations as:
The client’s aspirations for sustainability, which may include additional objectives, measures or specific levels of performance in relation to international standards, as well as details of specific demands in relation to operational or facilities management issues. |
It suggested that:
The Sustainability Strategy will be prepared in response to the Sustainability Aspirations and will include specific additional items, such as an energy plan and ecology plan and the design life of the building, as appropriate.’ The Sustainability Strategy is the strategy for delivering the Sustainability Aspirations. |
The RIBA Plan of Work published by the RIBA in 2020 suggests that:
The Sustainability Strategy acts as a guide to the delivery of sustainable buildings. This approach embeds key sustainability principles into the overall RIBA Plan of Work, while allowing the targets, benchmarks and Sustainability Outcomes to evolve and intensify in their ambition and urgency, as they must over the coming years. |
The sustainability strategy is prepared in response to the sustainability outcomes.
