Short Guide: Climate Change Adaptation for Traditional Buildings, published on 10 July 2017 by Historic Scotland, defines snowboards as: ‘Boards or wire netting in wooden frames, fitted to prevent large volumes of snow slipping off the roof or blocking rainwater goods. By retaining the snow, they allow it to melt safely.’
