Proxy server
Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, defines a proxy server as: ‘…a barrier which acts as a filter for data requests from one network to the next. The basic purpose of a proxy server is to protect computers on the internet, also known as clients, from making unauthorised data requests from network servers. The proxy server also prevents the identification of the client computer IP (internet protocol) address when the client makes any request to any other server.’
