Overview and scrutiny
The National Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England, Glossary, published by the Environment Agency in 2020, states: ‘Overview and Scrutiny is a function of local authorities in England and Wales. It was introduced by the Local Government Act 2000. Councils are required to create an Overview and Scrutiny committee. The role of these is to hold executive and cabinet members to account over decisions that are made.’
