Frequency band
Approved document E: Resistance to the passage of sound, 2003 edition incorporating 2004, 2010, 2013 and 2015 amendments, defines a frequency band as: ‘A continuous range of frequencies between stated upper and lower limits.”
It defines an octave band as: ‘A frequency band in which the upper limit of the band is twice the frequency of the lower limit.’
And a one-third octave band as: ‘A frequency band in which the upper limit of the band is 21/3 times the frequency of the lower limit.
