Fitwel
TG 10 Wellbeing in Buildings, A BSRIA topic guide, written by Sorcha Redmond and published in January 20205 states:
The Fitwel Building Standard is a global certification system for enhancing building environments to improve occupant health and wellbeing. It was developed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD).
Fitwel is designed to optimise building design and operational strategies in ways that promote better health outcomes and instil feelings of wellbeing for occupants. Created via analysis of over 7,000 academic research studies, Fitwel aims to create buildings and communities, enhanced to strengthen health and wellbeing. Fitwel V3 is tripart with advice and guidance targeted to the design, construction and operational phases of building lifetimes.
Spaces that score well in the Fitwel Wellbeing element might have clean air, natural and ambient light, rejuvenating and clean spaces with enhanced connection to nature and promote social engagement.
