Butterfly valve
The Illustrated Guide to Mechanical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 31/2017), by David Bleicher, published by BSRIA in 2017, suggests that a butterfly valve is: ‘Used as an isolation valve on pipework over 50 mm nominal bore.’
Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, states: ‘Butterfly valves are used to isolate liquid flow to heating equipment. They don’t have characterised ports or discs, therefore are not used to regulate flow.’
