Blue space
The SuDS Manual published by CIRIA in 2015 suggests that a blue space is: ‘Similar to green space, but it is an area of water rather than vegetation.’
Where a green space is: ‘An area of grass, trees or other vegetation set apart for recreational or aesthetic purposes in an otherwise urban environment.'
- The Conservative manifesto for the 2015 general election included a commitment to create a ‘Blue Belt’ of Marine Conservation Zones around the UK and 14 UK Overseas Territories. For more information see: Blue belt.
