Adenosine triphosphate
Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines adenosine triphosphate (ATP) as: ‘…an enzyme that is present in all living cells and provides energy to drive many processes in living cells. ATP detected in systems can indicate the presence of organic matter often associated with microorganisms.’
