Access point
Approved Document R: Infrastructure for electronic communications, Volume 1: Physical infrastructure and network connection for new dwellings, 2022 edition, defines an access point as: ‘A physical point located inside or outside the building, accessible to undertakings providing or authorised to provide public communications networks, where connection to the high-speed-ready in-building physical infrastructure, or as the case requires the gigabit-ready physical infrastructure, is made available.’
The Scottish Building Standards, Part I. Technical Handbook – Domestic, Appendix A Defined Terms, defines an access point as: ‘…a physical point, located inside or outside the building, accessible to undertakings providing or authorised to provide public communications networks, where connection to the high-speed ready in-building physical infrastructure is made available.’
