Tubercle
Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines a tubercle as: ‘A wart-like mound of corrosion deposit on the surface of a pipe. Pitting corrosion can occur under the tubercle, potentially leading to perforation of the pipe.’
