Total final energy consumption
Net Zero by 2050, A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector, published by the International Energy Agency in May 2021, suggests that total final energy consumption (TFEC): ‘Is a variable defined primarily for tracking progress towards target 7.2 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It incorporates total final consumption (TFC) by end-use sectors but excludes non-energy use. It excludes international marine and aviation bunkers, except at world level. Typically this is used in the context of calculating the renewable energy share in total final energy consumption (Indicator 7.2.1 of the Sustainable Development Goals), where TFEC is the denominator.’
