Routing
Routing has two very different meanings, both may have a relationship to a building in very different ways.
- The first and possibly oldest meaning is the high speed process of cutting, trimming, or shaping wood ( also used occasionally for metal, plastics, and a variety of other materials). A router can be fixed or handheld and has a shaped blade that spins, cutting the object to the same shape, it may have a central ring on its axis that doesn't spin but centres the machine to the groove or cut it is making.
- The second newer meaning of router is a telecommunications device now found in many buildings. It is an electronic device that mediates the transmission routes of data packets over an electronic communications network (such as the Internet).
