Swash

Groynes in coastal engineering (CIRIA C793), published by CIRIA in 2020, defines swash as: The area onshore of the surf zone where the breaking waves are projected up the foreshore.’

It defines swash aligned as: 'A coastline that is orientated parallel to prevailing incident wave fronts.'
