Sensitive area
A handbook on environmental impact assessment, 4th edition, published by Scottish Natural Heritage in 2013 suggests that the term ‘sensitive area’ refers to any of the following:
- A Site of Special Scientific Interest.
- Land to which a Nature Conservation Order applies.
- A World Heritage Site.
- A National Park.
- A scheduled monument.
- A European site within the meaning of Reg.10 of the Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regulations 1994 (including a Special Protection Area or a Special Area of Conservation);
- A National Scenic Area.
